A full time Foodie and a woman on quest to develop my palate and professional skills through cooking, eating, drinking, traveling and writing. I have spent the last 15 years in retail and restaurant marketing and now consult for independent and chain restaurants. I have been documenting all the restaurants I eat at during my many business and personal travels for interest, content and research.

I did indeed see your post about Chef Love.
As far as local eateries are concerned, here is a list of a few of my favorites. . .
-- Chicken -- Hands down Babe's (the Roanoke location) is the best fried chicken you will ever put in your mouth. The biscuits are also very good (heavy as a rock when you pick them up, but light as a feather in texture and mouth feel - add some honey or sorgum to one of those hot out of the oven little puppies and you are in heaven). I am also impressed that their creamed corn is actually creamed corn (as opposed to corn niblets with sauce added).
-- BBQ -- Cotton Belt BBQ in North Richland Hills is one of my favorite local BBQ places. It is located in an old railroad building and really has an authentic feel to it. The BBQ is very good. If you want something really great, ask for one of their Baked Potatoes (limited availability) and have it loaded all the way (including chopped brisket). This is a meal in itself.
-- Sushi -- Cowtown Sushi in Southlake is one of the best sushi places in the metroplex (in my humble opinion). The sushi chefs really take the art as well as the freshness and the flavor of their sushi very seriously.
-- Unusual -- Chef Point Cafe in Watauga is a restaurant featuring great burgers, rack of lamb, and lobster bisque on the same menu. This place has quite the local following. It's worth going there just to say you've been. Oh, by the way, did I mention that this restaurant is in a GAS STATION, now you know why it has the buzz that it does.
-- Middle Eastern -- Cafe Medi in Hurst has solid Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food and they also have a patio for enjoying some hooka (one of your foodie goals if I remember correctly). They have good naan there and they have one of my all time Middle Eastern favorites - Fool (a favorite for breakfast in Egypt).
-- Mexican - Unfortunately, I have not found the perfect independent Mexican restaurant here locally that I can recommend.
-- Latin -- Gloria's in Colleyville is a great El Salvadorian based local chain with great food and awesome drinks. Their margaritas and mojitos are solid. I really like the warm black bean dip that they bring along with salsa and chips when you sit down. Their pupusa's are great and their other authentic items are very solid.
As you can tell from this short list, I am very much an independent restaurant patron (which is unusual given my professional ties to corporate restauants).
