Rebecca Layton Gunter is a Business Development Service Provider with a successful, documented, 15-year career in business development, communications management and marketing. Ms. Gunter is an innovator recognized for producing top-quality results, contributing to growth while simultaneously increasing customer satisfaction. She has a proven ability to lead in high-pressure operations.
Ms. Gunter holds a BA in Anthropology from George Washington University and is a hospitality industry veteran. She has taken management roles in several front-of-the-house positions and has spent much of her career supporting food businesses with professional services through her boutique marketing firm LAYTONcreative. She empowers small businesses to compete on a level playing field with larger organizations by creating identity, streamlining systems, capitalizing on communications and maximizing technologies.
Ms. Gunter is a professional bartender and server with twenty years of experience in the restaurant industry. She has a proven ability to build a loyal following based on her engaging professionalism, magnetism, and deep knowledge of food, wine and service. She is currently an instructor for the Restaurant Opportunities Center, where she shapes fine dining hopefuls into seasoned professionals. She also participates on the Jobs Committee, the Fundraising Committee, and is on track for a position on the Leadership Board.
.In addition, from 2004-2010, she was the owner/operator of a boutique catering & special events firm, CakeLady Catering, in which she honed her business sense and management skills. In 2012, Ms. Gunter applied those skills to her role on the Steering Committee and as a sustaining sponsor of ThinkLocalFirst DC’s week of local food-focused events and initiatives called EatLocalFirst DC where she recruited large sponsorships, hosted events, and provided services. She was also a presenter at a conference for food-focused entrepreneurs, presented by Upstart Foods.
